Astrology and Other Things

August 13, 2008

As promised, here are all 12 Astrological Signs. This
started innocently enough! I was stung a couple months
back by a baby scorpion. It would have been less altering
if it had been an adult as adults can control the amount of
poison they dole out. Babies cannot. After a very
interesting two-week period I was returned to my senses,
those that I do indeed possess.

Once I was sort of in control of my wits, I made a promise
to EmbForum members that I'd digitize a scorpion and send
it out. Well, after getting a very good look at a real
scorpion I just could not do it, nope, could not. I decided
then to do the Scorpio sign but could not leave the other
eleven signs sitting on the sideline so did them all and
thus the pack was born. Each design is 2 inches high. If
you are an EmbForum member you've now received this pack
twice today.... :-)

I've included a picture of the pack with corresponding
names printed next to them for your reference. You will
find the pack attached in the usual formats but PES cannot
be done. Users of this format will have to use the VIP.
The designs are all in one stitch file so you'll need to
part them out individually if you want to use each one.
With one design it's not a problem to send it out but with
12, it takes 12 times the amount of time to convert to all
the different formats. You'll find it attached in PXF,
POF, DST, EXP and VIP. Thank you for not sharing these
copyrighted designs with anyone and for referring anyone
who wants to stitch them directly to my site.

When you stitch any one of these designs, you will notice
the underlay is being stitched first for the whole design,
no matter how many segments the design is comprised of.
This is for stability of the design. Underlay is a very
important part of a design. Its purpose is to tack the
fabric to the backing and stabilize the material. In stock
lettering, we often see underlay then part of the letter
being sewn, then more underlay then the next part of the
letter until the entire thing is completed. This action
can cause separation in letters because the fabric is
moving as it is being stitched on.

Speaking of underlay, one way to tack down an area that is
large is to do a hand punched underlay using the same color
of thread as the garment. Nice way to prevent massive
movement and stop gapping in a design.

News here: We are moving back to the beautiful Pacific
Northwest for a myriad of reasons. We will be back home by
mid-October of this year. Jim has been up in Oregon doing
tech calls and really is glad to be out of the Phoenix
heat. We love the sun though. Currently we admire it a
lot from inside the air-conditioned house. Water is a
wonderful hydrator!

Next month I'll head back to Sedona for my Master Reiki
class, something I wanted to follow through with while we
are still here in Arizona. The class is taking place over
the Fall Equinox and coupled with being in Sedona, this
bodes very well for me.

Last month Jim and I headed over to California to see a
very dear friend. We celebrated my birthday in Beverly
Hills and wrapped it up the next day at Disneyland, my
all-time favorite place in the world. It was a whirlwind
event and we loved every minute of it! Next time we are
headed to the California Adventure - probably less
strollers in that park. We both found out that moving
quickly is not a problem when a mom is hell-bent on getting
her child from point A to point Z and has no problem
running you over to accomplish the task. We jumped with the
best of them and ate our weight in fresh fruit through the
park. It was a blast!

I no longer host the software Hints and Tips for Hirsch but
do have something else coming down the line. When the next
adventure is in place you'll hear it here first.

Enjoy the designs and the rest of your summer. It's passing
quickly now!

Take care, Happy Stitching!
