As we head into a season of many meanings, let me join you in saying it's been quite the summer! Cooler weather will not be a sad event where I currently reside, in Phoenix. At least the last couple days have allowed me to turn off the AC part of the time while also being able to step outside and actually breathe the air instead of having my lungs fried.
Today you will find attached the first of some seasonal designs. I can't say every genre will be covered but some will anyway. You'll notice on this one, there is a blend going on. The run order is: red, white, champagne then white again. The champagne and white blend give sort of an iridescent look to the design. Play with the blending with metallics and see how it pops if you are so inclined! This design is 2.5 inches high and not quite 3 inches wide. It's around 6,400 stitches or so.
Jim and I are gearing up for our return to Oregon. We are going to the Portland area and planting roots. Deep ones. One more move ought to take care of it! By this time next month, I should be up to my neck in boxes. Being packed or unpacked, I can't really say. Jim is house hunting so he's the master of that ship. I may try to send a newsletter out early next month because it's likely I'll be offline for a couple of weeks during the move.
I am gearing up to offer other designer's work on my site. All the designs will be punched in Pulse software but available in many formats as the one's I've done already are. I have been in lengthy discussion with a particular company to build a stand-alone site for this venture but it seems very convoluted and a major undertaking so for now I'll be adding the designs here as things fall into place. My designs do not have initials next to them but the work of others will. Currently I do have some designs from Chad Matthias. His work has 'cm' next to it. If the other site is ever developed I'd likely move everyone else's work off this site to that one but I hear it may take up to a year to make this go, if it goes. So, it'll be a humble start here. Many great adventures have started out much smaller so I am confident this will be a successful venture.
In addition to working on new designs for the Black Eagle Designs site I have also been working on my Vegan Bag line. My goal is to have a bag or two (or three) on the site by the end of this weekend. As the inventory grows I will have bags and garments on their own site. An announcement will be made at that time but for now I'll add a separate tab on this one. The vegan bags are made of hemp which is a very sustainable product, embroidered with vegan thread and will have vegan/ecological messages on them. These bags will be sold on only a few exclusive sites. The other one that will carry the bags is Juniper Trail Embroidery. You can find that site at www.junipertrailembroidery.com. Pat English is the proprietor there. She does a lot of innovative work - check her out. My bags aren't there yet because they are not finished but soon.... yes, soon...........
This week will find me back in Sedona (Arizona) for a master class in Reiki. I took my Reiki I and II class at Peace Place. I've seen lots of positive changes since taking that class and practicing Reiki in my life on a constant basis so you can imagine how thrilled I am to be able to complete this course with Laurelle Shanti Gaia and Michael Baird before we return to Oregon. If you would like to see more on this subject, please visit their site at: http://www.reikiclasses.com/.
May you all have a pleasant rest of September and I'll see you soon! If you ever need to reach me, just drop me a line. I'm not so far away via cyberspace.... !
